From Festival to Feast: Discover Bicheno’s Foodie Credentials
For one weekend in November, Bicheno comes alive with flavour, music and that signature small-town sparkle for the Bicheno Food and Wine Festival — but the feasting doesn’t have to stop when the last song plays. Stay a little longer, and you’ll discover that this coastal town has serious culinary cred.
Whether you're into gourmet pastries, just-caught seafood or a cheeky local drop, Bicheno delivers. We’ve mapped out a three-day flavour trail to help you keep the good times (and good bites) rolling.
Day 1
Breakfast
Start your day at Governörs Bicheno — affectionately known as “Gov’s” by locals. This much-loved community hub serves excellent coffee, warm cinnamon scrolls and skagen rolls made from local prawns and Swedish family know-how. It’s breakfast with heart.
Lunch
Right on the edge of The Gulch, Lobster Shack Tasmania is your go-to for seafood with a side of salty air. The lobster rolls are legendary, and the chowder’s a local favourite on chillier days. Snap a pic, slurp some soup, and soak up the ocean view.
Afternoon Refreshments
Head to The Farm Shed, home to East Coast wine tastings, local beers, gin, whisky, and one very tempting drinks fridge. Grab a glass and a platter, or wander next door for a scoop of Valhalla ice cream at Rainy Day Cafe. You’ve earned it.
Dinner
Craving something elegant? Le Coq Bicheno serves up refined French fare with a Tassie twist. From Cape Grim beef to local seafood, it’s all done with flair. Don’t skip dessert — whatever’s on the menu that day is bound to be brilliant.

Day 2
Breakfast
Follow your nose to Little Bay Patisserie for croissants that rival Paris. If you miss out, don’t panic — next door, Gather coffee van pours excellent coffee and serves local biscuits and treats, right beside the community garden.
Lunch
Sea views and seafood rule at Sealife Restaurant Bicheno. Locally sourced mussels, fresh fish, and seasonal produce all shine here. Sit by the window and let the view do half the work.
Afternoon Refreshments
Whisky lovers, take note. Waubs Harbour Whisky is perched above the waves in a repurposed oyster hatchery. Book in for a tasting and get to know your single malts with the Southern Ocean as your backdrop.
Dinner
Woodfired pizzas, burgers, and steak sandwiches await at Food and Brew — a casual spot with local drinks and a relaxed vibe. It’s next door to Bicheno Penguin Tours, so you can stroll from pizza to penguin without missing a beat.

Day 3
Breakfast
Named after nearby Peggy’s Point, Peggy’s Café dishes up cakes, coffee, baguettes and wholesome salad bowls. Perfect for a light start — or a midday bite if you’re sleeping in.
Lunch
Tutumaz & De Devil is a street food van you’ll want to track down. Expect Taiwanese fried chicken, kimchi crepes and punchy, flavour-packed eats. If you spot them around town, don’t walk — run.
Afternoon Refreshments
Newly opened in 2025, Bicheno Beer Co. is tucked behind Blue Edge Bakery and brews up small-batch beers named after the local coast. Swing past for a fresh pint, sunshine and a scallop pie.
Dinner
Wrap things up at Bites by the Sea at the Bicheno Bowls and RSL Club. Classic pub favourites, ocean views, and friendly locals — it’s Bicheno to the bone.
From beachside bites to gourmet gems, Bicheno’s food scene is bold, delicious, and deeply local. So come hungry — and stick around. The feast has only just begun.
