Cruising in from Launnie? The inland route will get you there in just over 2 hours. Head south-east through Campbell Town (a great spot for coffee and a wander), then veer off the highway towards Lake Leake and glide down into Bicheno through lush forest and winding hills. Rural charm and hidden picnic spots await.
From Hobart
Heading up from Hobart? It’s a breezy 2.5-hour drive along the East Coast’s most scenic stretch. Take the Tasman Highway (A3) and wind your way past Orford, Triabunna and Swansea — perfect pit stops for pastries, coastal lookouts, and a cheeky vineyard visit. It’s all turquoise bays and laid-back towns until you roll into Bicheno.
From Devonport (Spirit of Tasmania)
Docking in Devonport? Set aside about 3 hours for a joyride to the East Coast. Take the B34 to Campbell Town, then cut across to Lake Leake for a beautiful inland shortcut. Along the way, don’t miss Christmas Hills Raspberry Farm, Ashgrove Cheese, or a quick detour to Deloraine. You’ll arrive in Bicheno ready for wine, waves and whatever’s next.
